WHAT IS SKETCHNANOGARD THERMAL?
SKETCHNANOGARD is a thermal insulating liquid coating. It is applied on the indoor surface of windows and acts as a long-lasting shield against the sun’s heat and harmful UV rays. The coating is very transparent allowing for a high level of natural light indoors. SKETCHNANOGARD coating blocks up to 99.9% of ultra-violet (UV) and shields up to 85% of Infra-Red (IR) light from penetrating through the window, while still allowing for up to 75% visible light transmission.
IS SKETCHNANOGARD BENEFICIAL FOR WINTER CLIMATES?
The emissivity of a SKETCHNANOGARD coated window is 0.14. Meaning only 14% of radiant energy (heating) passes through the glass, since radiant energy is within the same light spectrum as Infrared rays. If SKETCHNANOGARD reduces IR penetration from the sun, it also diminishes your heating loss in the winter.
DOES SKETCHNANOGARD HAVE AN ODOUR?
SKETCHNANOGARD will emit an odour that is similar to oil-based paint or nail polish during the application process. This smell will dissipate almost completely within 4 hours.
CAN SKETCHNANOGARD BE APPLIED ON TINTED FILM?
It depends on the film type. Very rarely do we apply over existing film. We recommend removing the film and applying our coating directly on the glass.
CAN SKETCHNANOGARD BE REMOVED FROM GLASS SURFACES?
Yes, it can. It must be scrapped off with our specialized process by our certified applicators.
IS THERE A WARRANTY FOR SKETCHNANOGARD THERMAL COATING?
We warrant that SKETCHNANOGARD will not discolour, peel, crack or bubble and will continue to perform for 20 plus years in normal conditions.
HOW IS SKETCHNANOGARD THERMAL APPLIED?
All work is completed on-site, directly on your existing windows. SKETCHNANOGARD is applied in liquid form with a high-density foam roller, directly onto the glass surface. We clean and prepare the glass thoroughly. Then we mix the Nano-technology with the hardening agent and apply the coating. The final step is curing.
IS SKETCHNANOGARD THERMAL APPLIED ON THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR OF A GLASS SURFACE?
Sketch Nanotechnologies recommends coating the indoor surface of your windows. Interior environmental conditions are more easily controlled resulting in optimum clarity and uniformity of the final fully cured coating.
ARE SPECIAL CONDITIONS REQUIRED DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS?
Sketch Nanotechnologies recommends application at a glass surface temperature between 5°C to 28°C and relative humidity of 70% or less. Outdoor temperatures between -10°C to 30°C.
WHAT TYPE OF SURFACE PREPARATION IS REQUIRED?
A deep window cleaning is performed:
- All obvious dirt and contaminants are removed.
- SKETCHNANOGARD Glass Cleaner is used to clean the surface and crevasses of the glass.
Masking materials is used to protect adjacent surfaces and window frames.
HOW LONG DOES SKETCHNANOGARD THERMAL TAKE TO DRY?
The surface will be “touch” dry in 3-4 hours and completely cured (hardened) in 3 weeks. Windows can be opened after touch-dry stage. Estimates are based on room temperature of 21°C.
HOW LONG DOES SKETCHNANOGARD TAKE TO INSTALL?
Our experienced team can apply about 300 to 350 Square feet per day.
HOW MUCH HEAT DOES SKETCHNANOGARD THERMAL BLOCK?
SKETCHNANOGARD blocks 99.9% of UV radiation and up to 85% of the infrared radiation. Our Solar Heat Coefficient is .30 with our best formula.
WILL I LOSE ANY VISIBLE LIGHT?
SKETCHNANOGARD dries to a clear finish with a Visible Light Transmission (VLT) of more than 75% when applied to standard 3mm glass. Uncoated glass has a VLT of approximately 85%. There is no distortion.
HOW CAN I CLEAN SKETCHNANOGARD COATED WINDOWS?
Once the coating is fully cured (21 days), SKETCHNANOGARD coated windows should only be washed with warm water and a mild dishwashing soap. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents containing harsh chemicals such as solvents, citrus oil, ammonia, bleach, alcohol, etc.
ARE THERE ANY NOTICEABLE JOINTS AFTER THE SKETCHNANOGARD COATING?
Unlike film, which comes with fixed widths, SKETCHNANOGARD coatings are self-levelling and seamless. You won’t see joints on coated glass.
